Nicola Mendelson, Facebook’s Vice-President of European, Middle Eastern and African operations announced at a conference on Tuesday that Facebook will be probably all video in five years.
Facebook is one of the first places on the web to host 360 degree videos and photos and the inclusion of virtual media will open up new ways to share life experiences and news with friends and followers.
As GIFs, photos and moving images have become increasingly popular replacements for texts, Facebook has been allowing users to post videos as comments on the social network. However, just because video is gaining popularity doesn’t mean Facebook will remove ways to type. Mendelson added’ “We are seeing a year-on-year decline of text.”
