But the first thing I always recommend, because it’s the easiest one to action is to optimize for speed. A fast website will rank higher and Google because it creates a better user experience. The easiest way to do this is to optimize the images you have on your site by reducing the file size, meaning they load faster. Number two is to optimize for mobile.
For the most part, people are looking at your website on their phones. Across all my clients, it’s like between 70 and 90% phone first. Google has come out and said, This is really important for SEO. So if you’re not doing it, you’re going against Google and you need Google on your site. You’re a local business or service. It’s really important that you register for Google Maps.
Not only does this directly improve your SEO, it also gives people searching for businesses like yours a higher incidence of actions that they can perform when they come across you. For instance, called Directions Website. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Once you’ve registered for Google Maps and Google business, make sure you collect reviews from your existing clients, friends followers, whoever beg, borrow and steal as many reviews as you can get.
This directly improves your SEO and Google ranking. This is because it’s a direct message to Google that your content and your business is legitimate and providing a good experience. Researcher keywords and key phrases to apply structure to the content on your website. There is a free tool called Uber suggest by Neil Patel where you can add a keyword into a search engine and it will spit out a bunch more different keywords and key phrases.
And what you want to do is look for the ones that have a high amount of search volume and a medium to low amount of difficulty and build those key phrases and keywords into your content plan, but make sure they are actually relevant to your business. OK, now that you’ve researched your keywords and key phrases, you’re going to create long form pieces of content on each of those keywords and key phrases, bind it in and connect it into your services so that you can show fresh new content around your keywords.
And key phrases indicating to Google that your website is not just one leaflet, it’s a full service page on lots of information. Meaning that you know what you’re talking about This directly improves the style of your website. Now you want to make sure that those long form pieces of content are actually relevant because click through rate is really important for Google.
What is click through Rate? Click through Rate is how many people see your content and then click on it and come through to your website. So a good click through rate might be something like ten to 15%. Now, bounce rate is when people click on your website and immediately click back to get out of your website. That means when they arrived, it wasn’t what they were looking for.
So make sure the keywords that you use are actually relevant so that you don’t have people clicking on your website and going, Oh no and clicking back off again. You do not want that as a bad sign for Google and it is going to tank you in the rankings. OK, now that you have your long form pieces of content, your post and your articles around your keywords and key phrases, you’re going to create a video on each of those pages that is relevant and along the same lines of the content you’ve written.
Put that video on YouTube, have captions on it, and then embed that onto your post or page or article. Having a relevant video embedded on the Post or article significantly increases your chances of ranking on page one. The next thing you’re going to do is go through all the pages on your website renaming the images as you go, and I want you to make those names of those images relevant to the page they’re on.
So, for example, if you are a dentist in Hammersmith, I want you to rename the picture of this photo of the guy doing the tooth dentist in Hammersmith Dot JPEG. Then you’re going to add alternate text using the proper is tool on Windows or using a tool on your web manager. Next up, you’re going to make sure that your website has a good site structure and an active site map.
This is very important for Google ranking, so make sure you have a site map in place. Most websites script these automatically, but you should go and double check that you have one. OK, next up, you’re going to go to all of your existing partners and clients and anyone you work with regularly and ask them to host a backlink on their website.
Now they may ask you to write a post in return for them. They might ask you for something else. But basically the more backlinks you have from good quality websites, the higher you’re going to rank in Google. Now, a backlink is basically when one website links back to your website. This shows Google that your website is good quality and real and legit and not some scam site.
